THE LEARNING SPACE
The Learning Space is a space where learners gather to have fun and learn.
Presently, The Learning Space has English programs in Kyoda, Motobu and Nago, Okinawa, Japan.
CURRENT PROGRAMS
Happy English Time!
This is held on Saturday mornings for
4- to 5-year-olds.
Frequency: Saturday mornings, weekly
Duration: 45 minutes
English for pre-Elementary School children
(basic English)
This is held on two weekday afternoons for six-year-olds.
Frequency: weekday afternoons,
twice a week
Duration: 45 minutes
English for Elementary School Children
This is for elementary school children.
Frequency: once a week,
weekday afternoon.
Duration: 60 - 70 minutes, depending on the age of the children.
Writing Course
(advanced level)
This is intended for those who are already fluent in English but would like to develop themselves further.
Frequency: once a week
Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours
Adult English Course
(face-to-face)
This is held once a week for adults who already know some basic English.
Frequency: once a week on Saturdays
Duration: 1 hour
Adult English Course
(online)
This is held once a week, for those who already know some basic English.
Frequency: once a week
Duration: 1 hour
Eiken (intensive)
This is for those who are sitting for eiken tests and who need help with the preparation within a short period of time. This is only for those who are 15 years old and above, in high school or older.
Community Events
Community events are held once every few months. The ones that are presently planned for the 2026 calendar are:
- Children's Fun Time in Nago,
February 7, 11 a.m.
- Easter Egg Hunt in Motobu,
April 4, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Mid-Autumn Lantern DIY,

October 10, 5 to 8 p.m.

週1回のペースで受講しました。受講前と比べて、英語に対する抵抗感がかなり和らいだと感じています。毎回レッスンの時間があっという間に過ぎるほど楽しく、リラックスして英語に触れることができました。英会話に苦手意識がある方にもおすすめできるレッスンです。
I took the lessons once a week. Compared to before I started, I feel that my resistance to English has significantly eased. What I first learned in The Learning Space class was that 'e' at the end of a word is usually not read, and 'ea' can sometimes be pronounced as 'ee'. I can read English better than before. However, I want to be able to speak more in English.

I lived abroad for about 10 years and worked in an environment where I never used Japanese. But after returning to Japan I felt my English is becoming less sharp. I wanted to refresh and refine my skills by taking this course. I highly recommend anyone who wants to relearn proper English and strengthen their writing skills.

私は英語ネイティブに伝わる英語を習いたくて、発音をしっかり学びたいと考えていました。カタカナ英語だと英語ネイティブには全く伝わらないからです。The Learning Space の英語レッスンでは、発音をしっかり教えてくれます。また、日本の学校では教わらないアルファベットの音、つまりフォニックス指導や、マジックEの秘密など、英語ネイティブならではの教え方があり、英単語を暗記する日本の英語授業とは違い、日本語を読むような感覚で英単語が読めるようになります！英文法もしっかりと教えてくれるので、いつの間にか英語ネイティブが話している英語が分かる耳になっていました。
I wanted to learn English so native speakers could understand and to properly master my pronunciation, because English pronounced in Japanese katakana couldn’t be understood by native speakers. The English lessons at The Learning Space teach pronunciation clearly. They also offer methods unique to native speakers, such as phonics instruction and the secrets of the magic e, covering alphabet sounds not taught in Japanese schools. Unlike English classes in Japan which focus on memorizing vocabulary, you will learn to read English words as naturally as reading Japanese. Grammar is also taught so before I knew it, my ears had become tuned to understanding the English spoken by native speakers.
